This little guy is pure new-baby magic: a sweet panda head on a rainbow-striped handle, with a hidden bell that jingles when baby shakes it. Tiny hands grab the handle, ears, or the little tail — and every colour of the rainbow is right there to point at and name.

Made safe from the start: no plastic safety eyes — the face is all embroidered and crocheted, so there's nothing to come loose. The bell is sealed in a little zip-lock so the whole rattle is washable without rusting.

Level: advanced beginner. It's all single crochet with simple increases and colour changes — lots of little pieces to assemble, but nothing hard, and gauge doesn't even matter.
