A long-necked amigurumi goose with an oversized floppy neck, tiny orange feet, a stubby beak and a red scarf. Finished height is 22 cm (8.6 inches), and the whole bird uses only small amounts of four worsted weight colours — red, yellow, black and white — making it an ideal scrap-buster.

Six stitches, no shaping tricks. Magic ring, single crochet, increase, invisible decrease, half double crochet and slip stitch. Head and neck are worked as one continuous piece in spirals, so there's no head-to-body seam. The wings, feet, beak and scarf are made separately and sewn on.

A note on the hook size, because it's unusual: this pattern pairs worsted weight yarn with a 2 mm hook — much smaller than standard. That's deliberate. The tight gauge produces firm, dense fabric with no stuffing showing through, and it's what allows a six-stitch neck to hold its shape at that length. Expect slower going than usual and take breaks if your hands aren't used to small hooks.
